Australia; a far off magical-looking land at the other side of the world for Brits like myself. We all know somebody who has travelled to the land down under for a better life of sunshine, beaches, drinking and that laid-back lifestyle for at least a year or so. Two years ago, in September, I myself moved there for a while and unfortunately had to return due to the dreaded covid-19. You've heard the saying 'it's not all it's cracked up to be' right? Well Australia is nothing of the sort. It's everything it's cracked up to be and more!
Some of my favourite beaches in Australia:
The beaches in Australia are some of the best I've ever seen. When I visited Thailand and Indonesia I was wowed by their picturesque beaches and colourful sunsets but Australia's somehow managed to beat them in my eyes. The clearest sea's and the whitest sand beaches in the world surround this big, beautiful country and it has more to offer travellers than you'd think. Before I visited Australia, quite a few people who had never been before had said to me, "it's just like England but sunny". Well, they couldn't be more wrong.
Some of my favourite sunset moments in Aus:
Sunsets and beaches aren't the only thing that Australia has to offer though. It is a beautifully diverse country, with people from all cultures, backgrounds and walks of life. While I was travelling around Australia, I learnt about Captain Cook, the first British explorer to discover Australia in the 1700's. I also learnt about the history of the Aborigines, the first people to inhabit Australia before our 160,000 prisoners were shipped there. Another factor that makes Australia such a wonderfully diverse country, is its landscapes. It has the oldest rainforest in the world, snow-capped mountains, Australian Alps, deserts and tropical beaches, and the world's largest coral reef system.
Today, 200,000 people move to Australia every year, but moving there is not an easy task. It is difficult and expensive to limit the number of people who can move there.
If it were easy, I would be living there myself.
