5 Reasons I love being a female traveller

1 - Ladies Night
In some countries in Asia, like Indonesia, ladies night doesn’t just mean cheap drinks...it means free drinks. Have a fresh evening stroll through the bustling towns, or by the beach and take your pick of sunsets bars offering free, refreshing, chilled alcohol beverages as you watch the sun go down behind the ocean.
2 - Pushing to the front of the queue
However, there’s no need to feel guilty about it, because technically you’re not pushing in. In India women are allowed to go straight to the front of the queue in train and bus stations for example, just because you’re a woman!
3 - Free Sarongs!
In temples around the world, it is considered a sign of respect to cover yourself up. Especially as a woman! If you arrive, legs exposed, you will be given a sarong to wear around the temple, and if you’re lucky you might even get to pick the colour!
4 - Cheap stuff
When the cash flow is low, use your womanly charm to plea a bargain! Haggling is an important skill to have when travelling a lot of the world, and practice makes perfect. If haggling isn’t your forte, then use your at least you have your feminine charm to fall back on.
5 - A sense of independence Travelling to far away countries with very different cultures can sometimes be intimidating, and often I find people shocked that myself and my other female friends travelled there ‘alone’ (no men). In my experience travelling is no scarier or intimidating without men, as it is with men. As long as you’re sensible and have your wits about you, you don’t need a man to protect you. There is a sense of pride, accomplishment and independence that you gain when, as a woman, you can travel to these countries that people find so daunting and different from their own. Isn’t that what travelling is all about anyway, learning about places that differ from your ‘norm’.
